a “The Case Study House Program”

Every now and then we should come back together and think about where we are and where we are heading, and whether it is where we wish to be heading.Is it not that we find ourselves in times where needs and desires have fallen to parts again?
This gap is undeniable in a system of prosperity where our homes are turned into desires of economic profit at the expense of needed affordability and social security.
Is it not that we know all these contradictions in structures but are too far down the food chain where decisions have been made already?
Thinking in the continuation of the Zurich case study houses, this presented program, is a try to bridge desires and needs back together. The chosen case shows a specific scenario but is an exemplary one for many of those out there.

This program is an effort to start a debate about the housing production in Zurich. We use the instrument of a case study house and choose a different process – one that puts the ones that seem not represented but most affected in focus.
Case Bergacker is our case, the Zeile our space of negotiation, zeitgemäss the word in question.
{zeitgemäss: according to the requirements of the respective present}
Can we open the common understanding of how housing is done?
What is the meaning of a case study house today?
