La Fantasia Phalanstéria

The intervention La Fantasia Phalansteria originates from two cores within the existing complex – the palm tree hall and the warehouse atrium. This first spatial scale introduces two concepts to reactivate the building and to subvert its bigness. The palm tree hall works satirically, stylized objects counteract with the inherent monumentality. A subversive act, which reminds us of certain ancestors from recent art and architecture history, but also simply guides us through the volume. The warehouse atrium works structurally. An implemented substructure in motion breaks the static main structure. In both cases colour plays an important role of ambiguous meanings, confronting the given oppressive realm and sublimating it. By creating this new activation the surrounding buildings will slowly become effected by the impact and starts to change. Just by emphasizing the given context with small interventions I want to make people be more aware of their surroundings and start to appreciate the buildings and their spaces. They all will be focusing on the topic of reusing of materials.
