Our studio has been conducting a study of the village of Otelfingen near Zurich, with the aim to develop “Care Hubs.” A care hub serves to integrate vulnerable groups—including seniors, children, and refugees — into the local community by activating existing communal frameworks. Unlike the trend of the past few decades, which has favored specialized and isolated buildings, we aim to explore solutions that foster inclusion and synergy. In the first phase, students have engaged with the Otelfingen community, seeking meaningful exchanges and insights to inform their work. In the second and third phase they have developed architectural interventions within existing village structures, crafting designs that respond directly to local needs and aspirations.
