A walk on the ground

On a walk that starts at the Uetliberg leading through the city and finally ending at the Käferberg, I learn about the different soil properties within the city and analyse their qualities. For certain punctual areas I come up with suggestions on how to use the given soil properties to create new places that fulfil urban planning tasks and allow different agents to meet. These interventions demonstrate that they can be implemented on a large scale, which covers several hectares, as well as on a smaller scale in the form of a neighbourhood or even just in the microclimate of a roof. The Interventions can go hand in hand and even overlap to create a new identity. To embody this, I adapt all these interventions on the Triemlifussweg, where the ground forms the starting point to define new connections, setting the boundaries - where the ground gets a new importance in order to create recreational spaces for residents, daily strollers as also creating a habitat for the local flora and fauna. All in all, I would like to proof what potentials can still be exploited when it comes to soil in a growing city.
