Railway Extension and Urban Growth
This project presents an architectural intervention and experimental concept for extending an existing railway through the Adlisberg forest, from the Römerhof to the rapidly growing suburban area of Dübendorf. Acting as a mirror image or doppelgänger of the historic events of the 20th century catalyst, the Dolderbahn, which helped transform its surrounding neighborhood into the built environment we see today, this intervention seeks to reimagine the forest as a metropolitan garden—a space capable of harmoniously integrating with the urban infrastructure that surrounds it. To accommodate the railway, a station was designed to act as a node, connecting to the surrounding offerings of the metropolitan garden and reframing the forest as a cultivated environment. This project aims to foster a symbiotic relationship between the forest, our understanding of it, transportation infrastructure.
