The project questions the expression “correction”, “correcting’’ a natural body. It also explores the possible conditions that could occur in the Rhone plain if the whole territory was pregiven by the intrinsic properties of the Rhone, which would eliminate tensions and conflicts between the Rhone and its inhabitants that are absurd and unnecessary to begin with.

Through the shifting boundaries of the Rhone, spaces of transition occur and borders dissolve. The wetlands of the Rhone melts with the pastoral and agricultural land. The settlements and industries invade the agricultural land and get denser and denser towards the edge of the plain.

The non-existence of the corrections, resp. the construction of dams and the levelling of the river’s bed makes the Rhone accessible for its inhabitants and dissolves the physical border. By making the least amount of change in the water level accepted and not ay longer perceived as a catastrophe, the alternative reality proposed by the project aims to dissolve the cognitive border and mental distance between the Rhone and its inhabitants.
