The purpose of this project is to update the existing mixed construction system of the ancient city of Pingyao in Shanxi Province. We are committed to addressing the existing problems of urban and architectural space inside the ancient city. Those problems are generated from the intrinsic value of cultural heritage and the overheated speculation of the ancient city. The final achievement of our design is to propose a strategy that will ensure that the future renewal of the physical space and the urban architectural space in the ancient city will be sustainable.
