Beyond Demolition: Reuse the Social and Material Value
The process of aging as dictated by nature applies in one way or another to all forms of existence on this planet. While humans develop wrinkles with age, building structures, materials and elements acquire an aging patina.

We observe people to become more beautiful as they grow older and I advocate that the same applies to buildings. However, the aging process of building structures, materials, and elements must naturally be accompanied by maintenance, just as people are cared for as they age.

If we are willing to adjust our demands for perfection and homogeneity in dwelling spaces, the practice of reuse - the incorporation of used, well-preserved or well-repaired building structures, materials and elements - can increase, hopefully helping to reduce waste and emissions generated in the construction sector.
