The Siedlung Rütiwiese is clinging on to a steep slope in the Gemeinde Adliswil. The multilayered houses and the vast vegetation around it melt together into one experiential landscape that creates an ecotone between the surviving forest arms that embrace the Rütiwiese from two sides. This reading continues in my expanded vision of the territory around it.
The work in section derives from the idea of the „Wohngebirge“: it allowed me to investigate, enhance and continue current architetural topics like the question of how to bring light into difficult angles or how to balance the transparency and amount of togetherness and privacy in a densified habitat.
A careful understanding of the existing lead to a densifications-strategy without sealing new ground, consisting of three complementary approaches: Inner densification by subdivision of big apartments, lower extensions in the former garage spaces and upper extensions at specific moments.
